About Garath The Goat and his Pottery
Garath The Goat Pottery began in founder Livv’s shed—just a few wheels, some bags of clay, and a place for beginners, kids, and the clay-curious to get stuck in.
In May 2023 we moved into our own little studio, and with plenty of laughter (and clay on the floor) it’s grown into a full-time teaching space with visiting tutors and bespoke classes.
We’ll keep making, teaching, and creating safe, silly spaces for our community throughout 2025—always a bit messy, always welcoming, and always about clay.

Founder & Potter
Olive - She/They
Hi, I’m Olive (aka Livv). I’m experienced in teaching wheel throwing, but my real joy comes from making shonky creatures and delightfully wonky pottery. I also create artwork and write plays that explore drag, imperfection, and glorious crapness.
Olive’s practice is all about embracing the weird, the wobbly, and the wonderfully offbeat — encouraging playful experimentation in clay and beyond.

Jim Bean - They/Them
Hi, I’m Jim Bean, a non-binary sculptor inspired by forms from nature, the sea, and the human body.
I love goats, and I have to say — Olive and Gareth are full of goat energy! I enjoy exploring organic shapes and textures, letting the materials guide me as I work.
Jim’s sculptures celebrate the beauty of imperfection and playful connections, blending whimsical energy with a deep appreciation for the natural world.
Clay Club Tutor
Lauren - She/Her
Hi, I’m Lauren. I create simple, one-off wheel-thrown pieces and also work in heritage and community engagement, which inspires my pottery practice.
Outside the studio, you’ll usually find me cycling or tending to my garden.
Lauren’s approach to pottery is thoughtful and grounded, drawing on her heritage work and love of community to create pieces that feel both simple and meaningful.

Poppy - She/Her
Hi, I’m Poppy (she/her), the artist behind Popdot Studio. I’m a proudly neuro-spicy maker living with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, and my work explores the joy, colour, and creativity that can grow from life’s challenges.
I make teeny tiny pots and whimsical creatures — playful companions designed to spark smiles and invite curiosity.
Poppy’s practice celebrates resilience, disability, and delight, turning personal experience into vibrant, magical creations.
At Gareth's, she’s worn many hats — from teaching wheel throwing and handbuilding to running the wonderfully chaotic Kids Club, and even moonlighting as resident kiln-tech wizard.

LG - She/Her
Hi, I’m Lily-Grace, a Cornwall-based multidisciplinary artist exploring the earth in all its forms.
I love to squelch in clay, creating mudpies that evolve into vessels and spark fluid conversations and connections through queerness and friendship.
Lily-Grace specialises in working with the feminine form, whether in vessels or more abstract pieces, and her work celebrates the abject, the taboo, and sexuality, embracing curiosity and expression in every creation.
Clay Club Tutor
Amelia - She/Her
Hi, I’m Amelia, a Thursday Clay Club teacher and hand-building enthusiast. I love the sea, I love ceramics, and that pretty much sums me up!
I often make animal-inspired sculptures, but I also enjoy creating the occasional small mug or two. I can happily sit and hand-build for hours, experimenting with textures and shapes, and seeing where the clay takes me.
Amelia’s pieces are playful, imaginative, and full of personality, reflecting her love of nature and the joy of making.
